MOTOR VEHICLE LAW

Have you or a loved one been charged with a motor vehicle offense?  Did you receive a ticket or summons?  Were you arrested?  Motor vehicle offenses can vary widely, ranging from violation level tickets involving fines, to misdemeanor or felony level charges which can result in significant loss of license, insurance requirements or even jail time.  A motor vehicle charge or conviction may triggers an administrative hearing that is separate and in addition to your hearing in the State Circuit Court or Superior Court.  The administrative hearing is held at the Department of Safety Bureau of Hearings.

It is important that you DO NOT JUST PAY THE TICKET.  When you pay a ticket it becomes a conviction on your motor vehicle record.  Once the ticket becomes a conviction, this may trigger unintended consequences, such as too many demerit points leading to suspension or an automatic insurance requirement.  Worse, you could risk becoming a habitual offender resulting in a mandatory minimum suspension of one year and maximum of four years.  We can help you navagate the system and avoid untintended consequences.

Attorney Stacey Kaelin Schultz is a former Department of Safety Bureau of Hearings Administrative Law Judge and career Criminal Prosecutor, ready to fight for you.
